How to Remove Water Stains from Quartz Worktops - 5 Tips & Tricks

Water stains are a buildup that is left behind when the water evaporates. Not every water will leave a water stain, only the ones with a high mineral percentage. Those stains are especially visible on darker coloured quartz. Although they are not hard to remove, they can be very annoying and make your worktops looking dirty even when they are not. Continue reading to find out the best ways to deal with water stains on quartz worktops.

1. Use steel wool
One way to remove the water stains is to use steel wool. Using circular motions gently rub quartz worktops. Don’t use too much pressure because you can damage your worktops. Use a dry cloth to remove the loosened buildup.

2. Baking soda
If you live in an area where the water has a high mineral percentage, even cleaning the worktops can leave a buildup on them. To prevent that from happening, use a mixture of baking soda and water for cleaning. Mix equal parts of baking soda and water and wipe your surfaces with a soft cloth. You can use the same mixture to remove food stains and buildup.

3. Use plastic wrap
If the first two tips haven't helped, you can use plastic wrap to remove stubborn water stains. Just pour a bit of baking soda mixture onto your stain and cover it with plastic wrap. Let it sit for a few hours and then remove it with a cloth. The plastic wrap will prevent the mixture from evaporating.

4. Use specialized cleaners
Cleaners designed especially for quartz are an excellent way to keep your worktops super clean and shiny. Since they are purposefully designed for quartz, they will remove all kinds of stains and buildup.

5. Use distilled water
If you live in an area with hard water, use distilled one for cleaning. The cleaning is handled the same way as normal; just make some soapsuds and wipe your surfaces with a soft cloth. Rinse off with distilled water.
Distilled water doesn’t have any minerals in its composition, so it will not be able to leave water stains.

These five simple tips will help you get rid of water stains for good. They are also a great way to deeply clean your surfaces and make them even shinier.
