Pros and Cons of Classic Quartz Floor Tiles

Quartz Floor TilesIf you are looking into ideas in terms of what you can use to floor tiles, be it in your hallway, kitchen, or bathroom, you need to pay a lot of attention to the process. If you make a wrong move here, you could end up with a material which is not going to last, therefore costing you more cash in the long run, and creating a headache you never wanted to have.

A floor tile needs to be hard-wearing and durable, and it also needs to have little in the way of maintenance. For those reasons, quartz is a fantastic option to go for, and one which will certainly stand the test of time.

Of course, there are other materials out there, but if you are on the fence about whether to choose classic quartz  stone or not, here are a few pros and cons.

Pros of Classic Quartz Floor Tiles

Low maintenance, borderline zero – Quartz is known to need very little upkeep, other than regular cleaning as you would do anyway, and this is a much better option compared to materials which need to be sealed and checked on a regular basis. The fact that quartz is non-porous means that it doesn’t absorb liquid like some other materials, such as granite and marble, and this means that your floor is likely to last you much longer as a result.

Large range of different colours and patternsQuartz floor tiles are available in a huge range of different colours and patterns and that gives you a lot of scope to choose a design to really fit in with your décor. If you go for a muted or neutral option then you know that no matter how many times you redecorate the room, your floor will remain in fashion and will always go with whatever else you choose.

Extremely strong – Natural quartz is, as you would expect from the name, a natural stone, and that means it is mined from the earth and much of its natural strength is retained. When you are shopping around for floor tiles, you need to know that your final choice is going to stand up to any test you throw at it, and this is a tile that you are going to stand on, so you need it to be ultra strong!

Cons of Classic Quartz floor Tiles

Non-porosity could make it slippery – The fact that quartz floor tiles are non-porous, this means that they do not absorb water or other liquids, and it is simply left to dry naturally. Whilst this is great on one hand, because it doesn’t cause damage or harbour germs, this can make for a slippery floor surface, when you compare it to a surface like marble, which absorbs liquid and therefore retains a dry surface.

Far too much choice! – We mentioned in our ‘pros’ section that there is a large amount of choice when it comes to colour and pattern, and that means that you need to be really careful and think deeply about the options in front of you, before you really go for it.

As you can see, there are certainly more pros than cons when it comes to choosing a quartz floor tile. Obviously, you should check out your other options first, such as granite or marble, but quartz is certainly a top choice to go for.
